There is a version of a man that exists before love.
He moves through the world with his plans, his routines and
his certainties. He knows what he wants. He knows what he does not want. He
makes decisions, solves problems and keeps moving.
Then, somewhere along the way, love enters.
And nothing necessarily changes on the outside.
He still goes to work.
Still answers his calls.
Still sits in meetings.
Still makes decisions.
Still pretends he has everything under control.
But something inside him has become awake.
He notices things he once walked past.
A name can alter the temperature of an ordinary afternoon. A
particular voice can occupy more space than it has any right to. A seemingly
insignificant moment can remain with him long after the moment has passed.
He becomes more observant.
More reflective.
Sometimes more foolish.
He discovers that the heart has its own intelligence, and
unfortunately, it does not always submit its reports to management before
making decisions.
But perhaps that is one of love's quiet gifts.
It makes a man pay attention.
Not only to the person he loves, but to himself.
To what moves him.
To what frightens him.
To what he has been avoiding.
To what he now desires.
To the parts of himself that remained silent because there had never been a
reason for them to speak.
A man in love is not necessarily a man who has lost his
balance.
Sometimes he is a man who has discovered what makes the
balance matter.
And perhaps that is why love can feel so strange.
It does not always arrive like thunder.
Sometimes it simply changes the way a man looks at an
ordinary Saturday.
Nothing has happened.
No great announcement has been made. No extraordinary event
has occurred.
Yet something feels different.
He finds himself noticing more. Feeling more. Wondering
more.
There is an inexplicable lightness in him.
He is not quite sure what to call it.
He only knows that he is buzzing.
Perhaps that is love too.
Not always the grand declaration.
Not always the dramatic gesture.
Not always knowing what comes next.
Sometimes it is simply the quiet realisation that life feels
a little more alive because someone has found a place in your heart.
And perhaps that is what love does.
It does not necessarily change the world.
It changes the man looking at it.
