We often get carried away with the lure to greater heights
that we seem to forget that if we don’t own today, we can and may never even
reach our vision and dream. The lure to become what we see in our mind eye can
be so tempting that when we are faced with choices, we don’t think before we
make our choices.
So is it true we can make a decision without thought? Not
really. We actually do a processing of the information, but seeing that we are
already torn in a particular direction, by instinct our validation system just
makes a seeming natural pick of what we have sort for all these while. So why
would anything be a lure?
The things we become drawn to are often watered by our the
things we have sort all our lives, our socialization, peer leaning and norms,
education and finally our spiritual understanding. Yes, spiritual, for many times
we fail to see the fact that man is a spirit and then a man. Truth be said, how
can you really find a balance between what you have always wanted and being
sane about making a valid choice? That is a skewed and lopsided situation. Yet
the response we give to these events actually determines the output. That is why;
two people can go through the same situation and have different results even
under similar circumstances.
Now, have you ever bothered to to ask, why we find it
difficult to just chose 'rightly'. My Dear Friend, it is actually because we
are afraid to lose. We want to eat our cake and at the same time have it. The
lure of wanting the best for ourself even when it is not bad in itself, must
thus be watched so that we dont either punish ourself just for the sake of
denial, or overstretch oneself just to stay accepted or in tandem with our
every expectation.
You know, its not easy to just wish away what you always wanted,
neither is it correct to have the idea that because I always wanted this, then
it is wrong to go for it. Yet, the way to go about it is to look at the soul of
that choice and the situation and ask, what is the cost of this? Everything
comes at a cost, until you understand this, you will go around in circles. SO
if that stuff that is so alluring also needs to be taken serious, it must
survive the depth of water and the strength of fire. It is not always true that
if it so easy it is wrong, it also is a red flag that we must look at
critically. Just remember that if you cannot see enough reason to throw the
baby and the bath water away, you might also consider taking another look at
that ugly baby and see the glitz in that eyes that will make you want to give
vent to its existence.
I find it hard to understand why we think holding on to
something for the sake of the lure and satisfaction it gives us, when what we
want from deep inside is something new and different. We cannot carry the same
load for long and its weight will not change. Perhaps, if we can see the bigger
picture and not some mind allure, we may find enough reason to let go of our
lure to self and allow wisdom prevail.
