I did not take my certification exam because my project
needs have been huge. I have had to work day in, day out to meet set target. I
have always wanted this sort of life and he was not fitting into the picture of
my life portrait, so he had to go, after all the expectation of the righteous
shall not be cut off. I am not at the same faith level with her, so you can
understand why she could tarry but I could not. I have always been like this,
so just understand this is who I am. Hmm! I am not born with a 'silver spoon',
otherwise he cannot best me. How I wish I was that handsome or this rich or
that popular, perhaps I could be her prince charming. Excuses!!! We are full of
them.
The life of finding reason is the lot that we are constantly
faced with. In short, it's what work life is all about, it's what we learn in
schools, it's what we see in the news and current affairs show on TV. Are
you still doubting it, ask yourself why you are modelling behavioral patterns
of your clients? You want to understand them better so you can sell the product
you have in the way they look forward to. We are given to reason; hence it is
actually normal for man to fall to excuses when there are alternatives looking
them in the eyes.
Sometimes, we even seem justified in these excuses, after
all, Saul had waited long enough for Prophet Samuel and thus proceeded to
assume the role of the prophet by carrying out the sacrifice to God, and his
impatience cost him. Again, the same Saul felt he could step aside God plan and
instruction by saving the best of the land and its king when all he was asked
was destroy everything. Moses was under pressure from the Children of Israel,
their complaints pushed him over the edge and he struck when he needed to
simply speak. Each instance, there was an excuse. David saw a beautiful woman
from his palace roof and could not resist, after all 'Man is made of flesh and
blood', but do you know his kingdom was at war, so if he was at war, would he
see the woman – No! He must have an excuse for not going to that war, after all
he has paid his dues, he had capable hands, and overall he was king and lord.
You steal from the till and the excuse is because you have several dependents -
true. There are also those of us, who engage in terrible acts because we are
supposedly disadvantaged. We may seem justified, but how long will that stand?
The manner of things we see and that thrives in society is
as long as you can explain it away with some logic, it’s okay. Excuses run on
the blood of the things we choose to believe, the deceits or lies we keep
telling ourselves or have come to accept are reasons enough to stay in the lane
we find ourselves. Yet, my friend as bad as it is, we have the chance to step
back and make a choice that does not make us comfortable. Yes, did you catch
that, our excuses are always the reasons we find makes us comfortable, even
when we know it's a temporary option. So why stay where you will soon seek
another measure to either perpetuate or protect that untoward decision. Hey! We
can do it differently and this is how; stop taking the shortest route or
solution, make conceited effort to best your weakness or frailty; look away
when you are tempted to pity yourself and use it as a basis for self; desist
from holding on to self-denial when all you ought to do is move; dare to lose
even if that seem the most improbable thing to do. Just do what does not seem
to bring all the gains now, and enjoy the fruit of your toils soon. Life never
promised to be a straight jacket wear, no it comes in all the simple contradictions,
yet it serves us to live it with reasons that will stand time. If for that
reason, you find a truth that supports it; then go for it, but don't forget,
truth is not subjective.
Yea, excuses are always very easy to use. It becomes part of our life style if we do not stop it as soon as we realise we have been depending on it not to achieve what we are supposed to. It is always comforting giving excuses, no hassle.... However, if we want to go far in life; we have to get rid of excuses.
ReplyDeleteExcuses are what we should not give, so tomorrow can be ours! God never promised anybody tomorrow, tomorrow is meant for those who know how to make use of what they have at their disposal now, which is today. The greatest wealth God has given us in our journey to destiny is "TIME", but excuse is a killer and eater of time!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing i think is this: It is only God that gives to man what he desires, but nature does not, nature gives to one what he deserves! " For a man reaps what he sows, one can actually sow excuses in his or her journey to destiny. To be relevant in the future is to delay gratification today, so lets work today, for tomorrow to work for us. Even God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that he will reap. So if a man sow excuses, he will reap poverty and he will be dis-valued.
