Rise Above the Challenge

Often, life gifts us not what we deserve nor produce. It deals us everything but not what we should and deservedly have. At those turns, we are shocked and yes, dismayed.

Are you the Tree that never Bends

Many times we wonder what triggered that break or lull in our relationship. Perhaps "it was bound to be" some surmise - but was it?

The Perception of Perspective

If I have a million dollars and a cent is taken from it, I am no more a million-dollar man. Just that cent makes me a 'thousandner'. On the flip side, if I need a million dollars to reach or achieve a goal and someone comes offering a cent; the well-intentioned act of the giver will be seen but as just a drop of water where an ocean will suffice. Same one cent, yet each with a different version of their worth.

Hit the Stop Button

A while ago, I was at a session where the speaker enjoined those of us seeking for a new direction or a change in our lives to do 4 things - Start, Stop, More and then Less. All 4 were not static as they were dependent on what goals were in focus.

The Real You

Ever wondered why you seem to be so strange to yourself? Have you woken up, only to discover that a new you is what you behold? Well! I have been shocked by this again and again until I realized that I evolve daily and that the "me" that stands today is different from the person I was yesterday.

It’s a Process

Do you remember the biblical story of Joseph? How he rose from the prison to the palace - very exciting and interesting story. It is a story of change. A story of a man who moved from being adorned in glorious splendour (his coat of many colours) to the pit and then slavery, the prison and a promotion to the palace as prime minister. Yes, change and huge leap and yet, it was a 'Process'.

Unlearning

So, I was in a discourse with a very good friend the other day and we were sharing thoughts on what we had done in the intervening time and one of us mentioned something about what he has unlearnt and that just stuck. Unlearnt??? Yes, and we spent the next few minutes brooding on unlearning things.

My Family

Like a hermit,

I have craved and stayed in my cave.

In this castle, I was me, real and nice

UNDERSTANDING - My Reflections

What is understanding?

Is it just to be sympathetically aware of other people’s feelings; to be tolerant and forgiving? An inclination to support or be loyal to or to agree with an opinion or simply the capacity for rational thought, inference, or discrimination? If understanding can be all of these and much more, where does one draw the line between being understanding and being taken for granted? Is it true that when I say I understand, I am illuminating me and my biases?
