By the Time It Happened

There is a kind of waiting that wears you out quietly.

At first, the promise felt clear. You could speak about it, plan around it. It had shape. Then time passed, and nothing moved.

Slowly, you adjusted. You spoke about it less, then not at all. You learned how to continue without it. You adapted to a version of your life where it simply was not going to happen.

Then, it began to move.

The truth is, the promise did not just grow old. You did too. Your pace changed. Your expectations became quieter, more grounded.

Now the fulfilment meets you here, not where you were when it was first spoken.

That is the real work. Receiving it without resentment for the time it took. Not forcing it back into its original shape. Not pretending the delay did not change you.

Because it did.

When it becomes true, it is not a return. It is an arrival into something that has been forming alongside you all along.

And it feels different.

Not like a celebration. Like recognition.

Nugget:
Sometimes the delay is not just about timing. It is about who you become before it arrives.

  1. What we see as delay many times is process, and process builds you... preparing you, if you observe you will find that everytime God made a promise to a patriarch, it began a walk with Him. That marks the beginning of God 's grooming you. He is into making people. It's not a promise he expects you to do by yourself, God is how you do it. You must walk with Him.

  2. After the delay, you sometimes don’t feel like celebrating the way you thought you would. There’s a voice at the back of your mind telling you that if it had happened earlier, you’d be at a higher stage by now. The process may have shaped you, but why is it still so hard to embrace this new phase and reality🤦‍♀️even though it finally came, and it’s something you truly hoped for?

    1. Heyy, hi 😊
If I may share a bit (hoping you see this, lol).
I have been in that place a few times, even recently and the word that came to me was ''gratitude''.

You see, gratitude is the feeling or expression of thankfulness and appreciation for benefits received, whether tangible or intangible.

Gratitude that it happened, gratitude for the growth during the waiting, gratitude that God's plans for you are always good, whether things went as expected or not.

I noticed that when I leaned into gratitude, the weight on my heart eased.
Maybe you can try that too; hopefully, it helps you as it did me. Be well.

  3. Yes at times delay may be good if its for a purpose or how at times answers we expect don't come immediately. But at times its on us to push. We are responsible for the outcomes of our lives. Sitting down daily at home doing nothing doesnt get you a job, sometimes you need to go to places to drop your cv or speak to people. Having delays isnt bad if you keep dreaming, planning and working towards it, you have a picture of where you going. but if you have no picture and just sit and wait for things to happen. they might not, you make things happen. prayerfully too, taking steps daily. One cant keep living in regret of the past but its never too late to change direction. The founder of KFC started at a very old age. but most likely he had a dream or picture he refused to let die and did something about it. Doing something does mean you need to go in the direction you planned. It could mean its time to shift or do something different. sometimes we just don't want to leave our comfort zone. Yes itll hurt but if you sure its want you want then go for it.
