The Extra

Still in the wind of the New Year and working the lines of 2015, it occurred to me that we just had another year added to our previous count. Yes, 'addition’; ‘additional'; 'greater than usual' all of these qualifiers are just about 'EXTRA'. Whether drawn from the Medieval Latin origin where it was seen as meaning 'outside' or 'beyond' or within the English, French and German 17th Century adaptation from extraordinary - 'THE EXTRA' is just what it is - 'EXTRA'!

Now let's get cracking, why the extra? The extra is critical because that is what sets you apart, its outside norms, beyond reasoning and the additional that makes all the difference. We have gone past the first fifteen (15) days of 2015, so if you were still assuming that the year is young, take a seat, a cup of water and drill these thoughts in - you need to dream extra.

The thoughts we give to making the things that work in our lives is actually additions, we lose sleep for them, we pray ceaselessly about them, our fixation on them are unfathomable. Point is, for everything that has occurred in your life, you did something unusual - be it just patience, belief, work and anything. Okay! You do not have that promotion after many years of diligent service, do the extra, your marriage is failing as against all your effort - do more and add more; sickness seems to be your second name and you wonder what you are not doing right - there is something outside the usual you are yet to do.

Hmm! We discussed Lulu and Smiles some time ago, borrow it and have so much of it in your bag in this year, smile extra no matter the load, it’s a thankful tool to keeping you sane, your heart safe and God praised. Don’t worry, your extra does not have to be in truck loads, just do everything with an addition this year. Love your wife extra, treat your kids extra tenderly, be firm with yourself extra, go beyond the normal in your relations at work, and everywhere, laugh extra, pray extra, give extra, believe extra and grow extra. I can assure you, in a month, you will be a happier you, a fulfilled you and laughter will increase as you grow extra.

So, you still don't have a child in your marriage, or you are yet to marry after all these years, PAUSE Dear! We agreed to 'Thank' not 'Think' - that is your extra. Find the extra in that thing you want or are doing and follow through with diligence. Enjoy it and watch it grow into your identity and glory.
