Worry has a way of showing up even when nothing big is happening. One small thought appears, and before you know it, your mind has carried the matter to places you never planned. It happens to everyone, even the most confident people.
When worry comes, the first thing
is to be honest about it. No need to pretend. Sometimes the problem is not as serious as your mind is making it out to be, but acknowledging the feeling helps you regain control before it escalates.
Another thing that helps is to
slow down. Worry likes speed. It wants you to jump to conclusions and imagine
the worst outcome. Taking a moment to breathe and think clearly can make all the difference. You begin to see what is actually in your hands and what is not.
There is also the part where you
remind yourself of how far you have come. Many times, you have faced things
that looked bigger than you. Many times, you survived what you thought would
break you. Worry can cause you to forget these things, but remembering them gives you the strength to move forward.
Then look for the one thing you
can do next. Just one. Worry grows when you feel powerless, but small actions
bring calm. You may not be able to fix the whole situation today, but progress has a way
of settling the heart.
And for the things you cannot
control, it is better to release them. Carrying everything alone will only
drain you. Let go of what you cannot fix and focus on what you can influence.
Worry will come. It is one sure thing. But it does not have to rule your day. You can face it, understand it,
take a step forward, and keep moving with the confidence that you have handled
tougher days before.
Nugget: Worry loses its
strength when you slow down long enough to see things as they truly are - “Sufficient
unto the day is the trouble thereof”
